Tenant Highlight — Restoration Systems

Restoration Systems is a unique company that specializes in the restoration and protection of wetlands and ecosystems.  Restoration Systems was founded in 1998, and has been occupying one suite or another at Pilot Mill since 2003, giving them the dubious distinction of being our oldest Pilot Mill tenant.   Pilot Mill has been a good fit for this company, as Restoration Systems truly appreciates what it means to revitalize space that is blighted or obsolete.

Restoration Systems is in the business of improving the quality of environmental restoration and mitigation.  This is primarily accomplished through mitigation banks, a system developed by state and federal agencies to regulate development that give “credits” which can in turn be bought and sold.  Ecological restoration differs from conservation and preservation.  Restoration involves returning damaged ecosystems to their natural state.  Click here for more information about wetlands.

The restoration of wetlands is near and dear to Restoration Systems.  Their ecological restoration projects total over 25,000 acres of wetlands and 60 miles of creeks, streams, rivers, and bayous.  Restoration Systems is proud to have planted more than 1,000,000 tress that will never be cut down.  These projects can be found across the country from Texas to Pennsylvania, from Louisiana to Virginia, to the Old North State.  Locally, Restoration Systems is spearheading an effort to remove the Milburnie Dam across the Neuse River.

At Restoration Systems, the only sight more beautiful than nature preserved is nature restored.  It is a true labor of love!
